Kallepia

Kallepia

13km to the northeast of Paphos is Kallepia, built 500m above sea level. It is an unspoilt village with 500-600 inhabitants standing on a vine-covered hillside above Paphos. The name Kallepia is derived from the Greek word meaning beauty, and it is certainly that.

Kallepia still has many of its old, traditional charms - the stone built houses with large courtyards, the stone built wine-press and an abundance of marble rocks. Very impressive is the Monastery of the Holly Cross which is built entirely from marble and the old church of Ayios Georghios.

The area is surrounded by rich vegetation, plantations and vineyards and is the perfect spot for people whi enjoy walking. The local art gallery is famous in the area and has regular exhibitions from local and foreign artists.

The local taverna with its famous meze offers an unforgettable experience to those who enjoy the Cypriot cuisine.
